WHAT WOULD YOU EXCHANGE FOR THIS?

MESSAGE: Matthew 16:26 "For what wlll a man be profited, If he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?"

The National Finals Rodeo is completed. The World Champions have been named. The National High School Rodeo Association, National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association as well as the N.A.R.C. Finals, N.O.T.R.A. and many other rodeo associations have rewarded their champions for the year. Congratulations to the winners. You worked hard and used your God given abilities and talents to the fullest.

We cowboys and cowgirls are often consumed with the competition and life of rodeoing; winning buckles, saddles, titles and money. We have to give it our best to win. In the minds of all serious young rodeo cowboys and cowgirls there is the thought of making the National Finals Rodeo and ultimately becoming a World Champion in their respective event(s). Many ot those same people don't give much thought to where they will spend eternity or really how to best live here on earth as God would have us to do; loving Him and loving our neighbors.

The title of World Champion Cowboy is more interesting and important to many people rather than being known as a son or daughter of God and knowing your soul will be with your Father in Heaven for eternity. Is rodeo or your ranch or your business or your title more important than having eternal life? Would you give up all the pretty saddles and buckles and sometimes large paychecks for Jesus? He probably would not want you to. But He does want to know that He is more important to you than all of the rest of the desires you have. At times, Christians are called upon to sacrifice their desires for God's plan in their life. Most of the time God wants to bless you right where you are at, unless you're into something that is not good for you (or he has a better place for you). You can bloom where you are planted. Psalms 37:4 "Delight thyself also in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." Just don't make the sad mistake of chosing your own ways over God's. What would you trade for eternity in Heaven? A gold buckle, a saddle, prestige, a title, a job, a man or a woman? You may actually have to give up something you want to do for God's will to be done in your life, or at least be willing to give it up. Matthew 16:24 "Then Jesus said to His disciples, 'lf anyone wishes to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me. (25) For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it; but whoever loses his life for my sake shall find it.'"

Some have been willing to quit rodeoing (or doing other things) to do what God wanted them to do but were able to begin rodeoing again. Some quit and never started again. Some did not feel the need to quit at all. Some slowed down and others went harder and faster. It's a matter of getting your priorities in order. Each of us needs to pray and seek God's will for our individual life and be led by the Holy Spirif. Romans 8:14 "For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God." Proverbs 3:6 "In all ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy path." Remember, God has your best interest at heart.

SETTLE YOUR DESTINY: "Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly." (John 10:10) Take care ot your soul and spirit first. Eternal life is a gift received by us, given to us by God through His Son Jesus Christ the Lord to keep us out of hell and bring us one day into His presence. Don't forfeit your soul. Take care of this right now if you have not already. Ask God to forgive you of all sin you have committed. He will do it. Accept Jesus as Savior and Lord and receive Him into your heart and life. Pray every day, read the Bible every day, fellowship with other believers regularly. (If you have questions about this and your soul's destiny, read Romans 3:10, 3:23, 5:8, 6:23, John 3:16. John 3:36 and I John 5:11, 12, 13, Revelation 3:20, Revelation 20:11-15 and Revelation 21:1-8).

Take Jesus with you and have a great year rodeoing!
