Hearing

HEARING FROM GOD!

MESSAGE: HEARING FROM GOD. It's time for YOU to hear from the Holy Ghost. I John 2:27 "And as for you, the anointing which you received from Him (God) abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him."

This does not mean to not listen and learn from good Bible teachers. Thank God for anointed preachers and teachers of His word. Thank God for the fivefold ministry mentioned in Ephesians 4:11: "And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers (12) for the equipping of the saints for service, to the building up of the body of Christ...". God has given us men and women anointed by the Holy Spirit to teach us and help us. As we are taught we should learn to hear from the Holy Spirit ourselves. Your preacher, parents and Christian friends cannot give you every answer you need to hear and know all the time. The Holy Spirit will speak to you personally and guide you into all truth and you will be able to recognize a lie and pitfalls and those who masquerade bad as good and wrong as right. Learn to hear the voice of God; ask Him for discernment when making decisions about direction for your life, whether a thing be right or wrong for you or good or bad for you.

Be wllllng to ask of God, and then be still long enough to listen, and then be willing to do what He says, and then be obedient enough to follow His direction.

I Kings 3:5-14. Solomon as a young man became King over Israel. He knew he needed God's help in ruling the people. God asked Solomon in a dream what He should give to Solomon. It is commonly taught that Solomon asked for wisdom. But in actuality, Solomon asked for an understanding heart; the original Hebrew says he asked for a "hearing heart" to judge the people so that he could discern between good and bad. (So you could say he asked for wisdom). Anyway, God gave him wisdom above all others and an understanding or a"hearing heart" and because of his unselfish request, both riches and honor, more than any of the kings before or after him.

Oh, that God would give us a hearing heart so that we will hear and know His voice, to understand what the will of the Lord is, to keep us in righteousness and guide our every thought and decision, to draw us close to Him and grant us peace.

Understand that the Holy Ghost (or Holy Spirit if you prefer) will lead you, will speak to you, will help you, will draw you to God and will keep you.

Remember Solomon's hearing heart. You can have one too. Proverbs 23:7 "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he..." God knows what is in your heart. The Holy Spirit will speak to your heart and give you good thoughts. Receive them. Receive Him!

Let's look at a few scriptures about the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:14 "For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God." Vs. 16 "The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God."

John 14:26 "But the Comforter (the Helper), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My (Jesus') name, he will teach you all things, and bring to remembrance all that I said to you." Vs. 27 "Peace I leave with you..." (the Holy Spirit brings peace to you.) The Holy Spirit is our Helper; Paracletos, which means one called alongside to help.

John 16:8 "And he, when he comes, will convict the world concerning sin, and righteousness and judgment." He will convict you of sin so you will confess it, get forgiven of it, and get out of it.

John 16:13 "But when he, the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own initiative, but whatever he hears, he will speak; and he will disclose to you what is to come."

In closing - What are some things we can do to listen to and be led by the Holy Spirit. There are a few very basic things to do. (1) Pray every day. (2) Read your Bible every day. (3) Spend some quiet time alone with God. (4) Fellowship with other believers often. (5) Praise and worship the Father. (6) Listen to good sound teaching from those anointed of God to minister. (7) Ask Him to speak to you. Luke 11:9-10. (8) In certain situations you may need to pray and fast. (9) Be filled with the Holy Spirit. If you know Jesus as Lord and God as your Father you have the Holy Spirit. If you need to be filled to overflowing and need the boldness to carry out His direction for your life, ask your Father for this. Luke 11:13. Jesus is the Baptizer in the Holy Spirit. (Mark 1:8, Acts 1:8, 4:31, 8:14 -16).

Acts 4:31 "And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak the word of God with boldness."

Prayer should be a dialogue when you not only speak but listen; a conversation.

HEARING FROM THE HOLY GHOST: Do you know you are saved? Have you asked God to forgive you for your sins? Have you received Jesus as your Savior? Jesus is the only way to God. John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me." He shed His blood and died on the cross and rose again for your sin. He made a way for you to go to Heaven and live forever. Is the Holy Ghost telling you to repent and ask forgiveness of sins in your life? Listen to Him. Do it now. Pray a prayer like this-

Dear God, have mercy on me, the sinner. I confess my sins and ask you to forgive me and I turn away from sin. I turn to You and accept Jesus as my Savior and Lord. I ask You, Jesus, to baptize me in the Holy Spirit, fill me with Your love and the boldness to be what You want me to be. Dear Holy Spirit, talk to me and guide me all the days of my life. I thank You. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Now get baptized, pray daily, read the Bible daily, get into a good church. Believers can pray a similar prayer to get back in right fellowship with your Father and be bold for Jesus.

INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE: God has called us to do a work among the rodeo cowboys and cowgirls as well as many others. We hope these newsletters are helpful to your spiritual growth. We invite you to help us as we send out free Cowboy Bibles, hold Cowboy Church Services, plus our weekly meetings, Rodeo School and Bible Camps, and occasional T.V. outreaches among other activities. Lives are being changed. We thank you for your prayers, time and money in this. We can't do it without you. Would the Holy Spirit have you to help? Ask ... and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." God will bless you and those you help.

SERVICE: What about you or your group? Is there something I can do for you? Let me know. Isaiah 6:8 "Also, I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send and who will go for us? Then said I, send me,"

I'LL go.

God's Blessing and peace be upon you.
