For a Good Relationship
Matthew 7:12 “Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”
Philippians 2:3-4 3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.
Colossians 3:12-17 12 So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. 14 Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father

ON THE TRAIL

We have been On The Trail all summer for Jesus. We are still ‘Presenting Jesus!”- and the love and encouragement, and victory He offers.

This summer we have been to several of Lester Meier Rodeo Company 2017 Open Pro Rodeo Tour events in south central Texas. Lester and Holly Meier are Cowboy Partners in this ministry. They continue to welcome us to minister at their rodeos. Even with their busy schedule just before performance time, they make a way to attend Cowboy Church and encourage their workers, contestants, the rodeo judges, bull fighters, specialty acts, and others to attend.

We have seen a lot of the same cowboys and cowgirls this year. Because of this we are able to make disciples, and not just converts. After receiving Jesus as Savior people need to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 3:18) We counsel them during, before, and after church in many areas –healing, forgiveness, finances, jobs, marriage, couples living together who are not married (several have gotten married since), anger, wounded spirits from past hurts, hope for the future, resisting sin, living a more godly life pleasing the Father, and more. We have seen miracles and watch as Jesus heals alot of people and takes pain away. We see good fruit from our efforts. Many cowboys and cowgirls are living a life of love, joy, and peace instead of anger, bitterness and confusion. Many are living to serve Jesus now instead of always serving the flesh. Love always wins!

We continue to preach at Tejas Rodeo with the blessing of the owners, Yancey James and Trey Moore. Tejas Rodeo is a weekly Rodeo in Bulverde, Texas held weekly on Saturday nights from March to November (about 40 performances a year). They celebrated their 10th Anniversary last year. Pastor Cody Haynes of Johnson City, Tx supplies the bulls. Cody always says, “My bulls are about Jesus!”. He has made sure that there is a Cowboy Church service each week before every performance for 10 years. I preach and minister there several times a year when my schedule allows it. Over the years we have seen lots of people receive Jesus, grow in Christ, get healed, experience miracles. Jesus continues to bless us there. He is the same powerful Lord as when He walked the earth, and He still moves on the behalf of mankind in healing, salvation, deliverance, protection, and help. Tejas rodeo has grown in size and crowd numbers over the years. We believe it is because they honor Jesus and the Holy Spirit. It is a great place for beginner and seasoned cowboys to compete. A lot of cowboys and cowgirls that travel around the country got their start here. And they also got a good foundation for living their lives by the Word of God being instilled in them.

Cherlyn and I were also able to minister at Ridin’ With Christ Fellowship in Waller, TX this July. Pastor Art Musgrove has been inviting me to preach there since about 2008. It was a good service. People were ministered to in spirit soul, and body. Salvations-people were born again in their spirit. Wounded spirits from old emotional hurts were healed in their soul. Physically people were healed in their body. (See 1 Thessalonians 5:23 shows that God preserves us complete-spirit, souls, body.)

We I will be back at PRCA Rodeos this September and October to continue to minister in an area we have found favor from God and men for many years-38 years! We will continue to present the Good News of Jesus Christ. Lives are changed for the good!

It is a blessing and an honor to serve Jesus. We encourage you to present Jesus On The Trail of your life. It is a crazy world we live in. Our only hope is Jesus. So let’s do Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

On The Trail

We were at some rodeos we regularly attend to minister and hold Cowboy Church in May and June such as Mineral Wells, TX; Jacksonville, TX; Wimberly, TX; Tejas Rodeo which is held weekly in Bulverde, TX. We continue to find favor with Jim Gay of Rafter G Rodeo, Pete Carr of Carr Pro Rodeos, Lester and Holly Meier of Lester Meier Rodeos,Stace Smith of Smith Pro Rodeos, Yancey James and Trey Moore of Tejas Rodeo, and others who welcome us to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ at their rodeos and other events.
The Church Services are well attended as we continue to make disciples as Jesus told us to. Matthew 28:18 “And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
We recently taught on “The Presence of God”, “Do Not Grieve the Holy Spirit”, “The Ministry of Angels in our Lives Today”, and other topics. We spend a lot of time one on one with different people at each rodeo. My wife, Cherlyn, is well received and has a wonderful way of loving the people we meet and minister to. Here is where we can answer personal questions, give counsel from the Word of God, speak healing and see miracles from Jesus. The Holy Spirit moves in a special way to these hungry individuals who seek to know more about God, and who make Jesus the Lord of their lives. Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”
My children Caleb and Brandon are continuing in their bull riding careers and giving God the glory as they go. These two rode calves when they were about 7-10 years old, then they took a fifteen year break at a young age. Now at 26 and 28 they are riding bulls weekly and following their childhood dreams. I say they are “late bloomers “ at this age, but they are in good physical condition and have a good mind for riding. Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself also in the LORD and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” Your dreams and plans may be a long time coming but keep open to what doors Jesus may open, even if it seems the time is past and it just will not happen.
We now have a new system for Giving into this ministry if you would like to be a Cowboy Partner and Keep us On The Trail for Jesus and for souls. Check out the information in this Issue of Christian Cowboys and Friends Magazine. See our website for details at www.Christiancowboy.org
We continue On The Trail for Jesus and hope you do to. You have purpose. Fulfill your purpose for God. And do not grow weary in doing good. Galatians 6:9 “Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.”  I Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.”
We thank all of our Cowboy Partners who give financially to keep this ministry going. On the Trail after all these 38 years, and we still see God move in the affairs of men and women.

ON THE TRAIL

It is a busy time of the year in ministry for us at rodeos and we went to a few Cowboy Churches. We meet new rodeo contestants in the winter and spring rodeos. We make new friendships and we tell them about Jesus.
I was invited to preach at The Risin Sun Cowboy Church in Trinity, Texas where Tawana (TJ Conatser) Henley is doing a good job of moving in as Pastor after Ron and Jo Conatser, her Dad and Mom, passed away last year. She is carrying on where they left off. She is keeping the church active in kingdom of God business. They are using the arena more now for horse events, and plan on continuing with the annual rodeo in October they have produced for many years. TJ has been the Praise and Worship Leader for years also. She is inviting others in the five fold ministries to preach and minister there to help equip the saints with her. We ministered there once in March and will be there twice in April. We see a refreshing taking place in the people. They are ready to grow and affect their area for Jesus.
We also went to the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Fort Worth, Texas to hold Cowboy Church. Don Howell, former President of TRCHOF makes sure Cowboy Church is in the program. Mike Hudson is the current President. They both were my roommates in college. We honor the Inductees each year, and we honor Jesus each year.
Stace Smith Pro Rodeo and Pete Carr Pro Rodeo produce a lot of rodeos in Texas, especially this time of the year. They continue to welcome us at their PRCA Rodeos to minister. Besides Cowboy Church we spend a lot of one on one time with people.
At the Goliad, Texas PRCA Rodeo they give us the announcer’s P.A. system for Cowboy Church. The message goes to those in the bleachers all around the arena and into the parking lot. It is well attended. This year I spoke on “Sin”- how it separates us from God, how it blocks our blessings, and how it causes death. But the Good News is Jesus died for our sins to be forgiven when we receive Him as Savior and Lord. Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  A Bareback Rider asked for prayer over his torn groin muscle after Cowboy Church (which was just before the rodeo). After he rode he smiled and announced to us that there was no more pain.
The contestants and their families are hungry to listen as we show them God’s viewpoint and guidelines from the Bible. Over the years we have seen many receive Jesus as Savior, Jesus as the Healer, and Jesus as the Baptizer in the Holy Spirit.
It was near Resurrection Sunday recently at some rodeos so we told them about the power of the resurrection of Jesus in our lives when we receive what He has for us- He took stripes for our healing and peace, then He died for our sins. And he rose from the grave. The same Spirit that raised Jesus will raise us from the dead to eternal life. (Romans 8:11). That is powerful and awesome.
Another event we sponsored was a Bull Riding School and Bible Camp in Johnson City, Texas at Cody and Rene’e Haynes Arena. Blu Bryant, former Runner Up World Champion Bull Rider was our Instructor. He ministers the Word wherever he goes also. Blu and Cody did a very good job of helping the students in their bull riding. I also helped instruct some. I taught this group of students on the importance of being a good witness for Jesus at the rodeos and bull ridings they compete in. They left equipped to ride. They left ready and more equipped to serve God as well.
We continue to plant and water the Word of God. God then causes the increase.

ON THE TRAIL

We stayed closer to home this summer. It was fun and we saw good fruit at the Lester Meier Pro Tour Rodeos and at the weekly rodeos at Tejas Rodeo in Bulverde, Texas.
At Lester Meier Rodeos we have Cowboy Church by the Tack trailer and Rodeo Secretary Office about 45 minutes before the rodeo. Because of the timing and the location we get a good crowd. Lester attends almost every service and encourages his helpers and the contestants to join in with us. Besides the Cowboy Church there is a lot of counsel and prayer with individuals throughout the rodeo event.
At Tejas Pastor Cody Haynes takes his bulls and holds Cowboy Church service every week one hour before the rodeo in the bleachers. When I am town he has me minister there.
Also Cody Haynes is involved in the movie and TV business. He is working on a western all summer. On a few occasions he asked me to come to the set to be a Wrangler. Sometimes I am in costume and sometimes I am taking care of the horses and being there for safety for the actors and actresses. We pray each day before filming. And God opens doors for us to quietly share our faith in Jesus and minister to the others who are involved in the production.
Beginning in September we are back on the road at the PRCA Rodeos.  We went to Texarkana, Arkansas, and to Stephenville, Texas which is held very close to the cutoff date for qualifying for the WNFR. I reminded the contestants to Praise the Lord when things are bad or good. We praise God when we are doing well for our blessings; and we praise God when we are down because He will rescue us and will pluck our feet out of the net.” (Psalm 25:13)
While out on the road we stayed with Bill and Karen Shaw of Christian Cowboys Who Care Ministries in Douglass,TX near Nacogdoches. They started a new church there earlier this year which meets on Sunday mornings at their house. They rented a tent, and have plans for a building soon. Also they host “Getting It Right;” this is a Cowboy Church/Bible Study/Bull riding practice session. They meet at 6:30 PM on the first and third Tuesday of the month. Over 50 have received Jesus as Savior and Lord at his these events in the last few months. They have a nice new arena and some super practice bulls to help the kids learn to ride. The arena was built by faith. The funds came in when needed and they have a very nice facility. They also serve dinner and refreshments. The night I ministered in September about 5 people received Jesus and confessed Jesus as Lord before the people there. Others were encouraged in their walk with God.
It has been good to see the cowboys and cowgirls at the PRCA rodeos again this fall. Jesus said to go and make disciples. The cowboys we talk with are hungry for the Word if God. They have a lot of questions. We see them growing in Christ. And we continue to see Jesus heal broken and bruised bodies, along with broken dreams and hearts. I spoke to the pain in a bull rider’s elbow at the Texarkana, Texas rodeo and he reported to me a week later that the pain was all gone. It no longer bothered him when he rode bulls. We encourage them to stick with God’s plans that He lines out for us in the His Word, the Bible. We encouraged a young couple to have a relationship pleasing to God. Get married if you are to live together. Honor God and honor each other. They were very receptive and open to what the Word has to say about man/woman relationships. When we speak the truth in love people listen and receive it.
I am writing this the last week of September. The WNFR in Las Vegas, NV the first part of December and the Christmas season is upon us – even by the time many of you will read this. We speak the love and peace of God over all of our Cowboy Partners and all of the readers. We should be at the WNFR to Present Jesus at the rodeo, the trade shows, the casinos and other places. It is an exciting time in the kingdom of God. Keep your heart right with God. Psalm 52:10 says, “Create in me a clean heart O God…”  Only the Blood of Jesus can cleanse our sins. Thank You Father for sending Jesus to us to be our Savior and our Best Friend.
The Presidential elections in the USA will be over by the time many of you see this report. No matter the outcome, continue to pray for the USA. The President and other leaders need to hear from the Holy Spirit and do as He says to do for us to be the blessed people He desires us to be. And we the people need to set our eyes on Jesus and our hearts on the Father, and His will for us to experience His love and protection and His best for this nation. Happy New Year to you all. Keep putting God first and trust Him in everything.
We invite any of you to become a Cowboy Partner in what we do in kingdom work. Our Cowboy Partners have a part in every soul we reach for Jesus. We speak blessings on you all-In Jesus name. Amen.

We continue on the Trail for Jesus.
